Having gained an LRAM diploma at the age of 16, Richard Pilliner won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, where he took all the prizes for organ playing, accompaniment and improvisation. Whilst still a student, he received awards from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Greater London Arts Association. As a solo organist he has travelled widely and is an annual recital visitor to the United States. Some of the important venues that he has played at include St Patrick's Cathedral and St Thomas, Fifth Avenue, NYC, Washington National Cathedral, the National Shrine and the Kennedy Center, Washington DC, and cathedrals in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Topeka, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Future dates include return visits to New York, Hong Kong and a recital at Gloucester Cathedral next summer.
Richard Pilliner is Organist at Shirley Parish Church on the borders of London and Surrey where there is a fine organ by Frobenius.
